The Taradale Vet Hospital Team

Veterinarians

Dr Clive Hambly is our practice manager and has worked at Taradale Vet Hospital for over 19 years. In 2003 he became a director of the company, and since 2008 has co-owned the business with wife Sharon. Clive graduated with a BVSc from Onderstepoort, Pretoria University in 1982 then worked for a number of years in mixed practice in South Africa, and in the Waikato, before moving to Hawke's Bay. Clive is passionate about all areas of vet practice, but particularly enjoys working with orthopaedic cases and mentoring younger vets.

Dr Sharne Crous graduated as a vet from Massey in 2010 and started working at Taradale Vet in March 2011. She is currently studying towards a Masters of Veterinary Medicine (Surgery). This involves 4 years of intense part-time study, which Sharne manages to fit around her full-time job, and a very active life outside of work.

Dr Yifang Tay is the most recent addition to our team of vets. Yifang completed her vet studies at Massey in 2010, and had been working at a companion animal clinic in Singapore before returning to New Zealand and joining our team in March 2015. She has a special interest in clinical pathology and oncology, which complements the skill base of our other vets very well. She completed a post graduate paper in clinical pathology at Massey, and has recently attended an oncology workshop.

Dr Linda Welch graduated from Massey University and started out in mixed practice in Otago. After some time overseas, she returned to New Zealand, working in small animal practice. Linda enjoys all aspects of veterinary work, with areas of special interest in feline medicine, soft tissue surgery and ophthalmology. She owns four lovely cats and a fox terrier named Roy. Linda joined the Taradale Vet Hospital team in 2006.

Dr Bridgette Karetai is our locum vet and has worked intermittently at Taradale Vet Hospital over the past several years (between having babies and farming pheasants). Bridgette graduated from the University of Queensland in 1998, and after spending several years working, including a stint in the UK, she settled in Hawke's Bay in 2005.

Clinic Management

Sharon Hambly is Taradale Vet Hospital's business manager and co-owner. She's responsible for the non-clinical management of the clinic. Sharon is particularly interested in strategic management and human resource management, believing recruitment and retention of high-quality staff who identify with the clinic’s culture and ethos, is paramount to success. Sharon believes the way you treat your employees is the way they will treat your customers.
